AAC (augmentative and alternative communication)
Ways of communicating that add to or replace speech: picture cards, communication boards, signing, and speech-generating apps or devices. A speech-language pathologist assesses for AAC and sets it up; the adults around the child use it all day. The RPwD Act asks governments to promote it.
