Shadow teachers and special educators in Gandhinagar.
Shadow teachers, special educators and remedial tutors for families in Gandhinagar, from the government sectors to Kudasan, Sargasan and GIFT City.
Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad
Gandhinagar, the state capital, is a planned city of numbered sectors, wide tree-lined roads and government housing, just north of Ahmedabad. Many families work for the state or central government, while newer residents in the towers of Kudasan, Sargasan and Raysan often work at GIFT City, in the IT parks or in Ahmedabad itself. A government posting can bring a family here in the middle of a school year, sometimes from another part of Gujarat or another state. We introduce shadow teachers, special educators and remedial tutors to Gandhinagar families, verify qualifications with the issuing institution, speak to at least two references and interview each candidate twice. We contact the school before a shadow teacher is placed, and every placement is reviewed at one week, thirty days and ninety days, with daily notes and a monthly written report.
Gandhinagar has a large share of CBSE schools, including central government schools that serve families on transfer, along with Gujarat board schools teaching in Gujarati or English. IB and Cambridge programmes are fewer here, and some families drive to the western suburbs of Ahmedabad for them. A family that moves on transfer may change boards with each posting, which matters for exam planning. At the time of writing, October 2026, CBSE requests for exam concessions go through its online CWSN portal with the school's list of candidates, and the Gujarat board gives SSC and HSC candidates with certified disabilities concessions such as extra time and a writer, applied for by the school. Confirm the current rules with the school.

The commute and the languages.
Inside Gandhinagar distances are manageable and the sector roads are usually calmer than Ahmedabad's, so the difficulty is the trip in. Many experienced practitioners live in Ahmedabad, and the daily run up SG Highway or through Koba is slow at office hours, when government staff and GIFT City commuters share the road. The Metro extension from Motera towards Gandhinagar and GIFT City has changed some routes, but the walk or auto ride from a station to the school still matters. For a full academic year, look first for someone living in Gandhinagar, Kudasan or Sargasan, or in north Ahmedabad around Chandkheda, Motera or Gota.
Gujarati is the everyday language in most Gandhinagar homes, and Hindi is widely used, especially by families of central government staff who came from other states. Families working at GIFT City and living in the newer towers may speak Marathi, Bengali, Tamil or English first. A child who has moved schools on transfer may have learnt another state's language rather than Gujarati. Tell us which languages the child reads and writes, not only those spoken at home, so the brief reflects the language load at school.

Questions from Gandhinagar families
We have moved to Gandhinagar on a government posting in the middle of the year. Can support start now?+
Yes, once the new school agrees to a shadow teacher. The child-support profile draws on reports from the previous school, and checking qualifications and references takes some days, so starting quickly does not mean skipping checks. The one-week review looks at how the child is settling into the new school and routine.
Is it harder to find a special educator in Gandhinagar than in Ahmedabad?+
It can take a little longer, because more practitioners live in Ahmedabad. We look first at candidates in Gandhinagar, Kudasan and Sargasan, then in north Ahmedabad around Chandkheda and Motera, and we say plainly in the shortlist how far each would travel. Online remedial tutoring can cover sessions where travel is not realistic.
Where do we apply for a disability certificate if we live in Gandhinagar?+
On the UDID portal, swavlambancard.gov.in, to the medical authority the state has notified for Gandhinagar district, or to a hospital already treating your child. Special Minds does not assess or certify, so questions about a diagnosis belong with a developmental paediatrician or child psychologist. Confirm the current process before you apply.
