Special Minds India
A family home in Delhi NCR

Shadow teachers and special educators in Greater Kailash.

Shadow teachers, special educators and remedial tutors for families in GK I and GK II, South Delhi, working with the whole household.

Greater Kailash, Delhi NCR

Greater Kailash, GK I and GK II, is an established South Delhi neighbourhood where many of the old houses have been rebuilt as builder floors, and it is common for grandparents, parents and sometimes an uncle's family to share one building. That means a child's day involves several adults, each with their own view of what helps. A special educator at home works best when everyone agrees on the same few routines. Special Minds introduces vetted professionals to families here, writes the child-support profile with the parents, and keeps daily notes that the whole household can read.

Children from GK go to the established CBSE schools of South Delhi, along with some IB and ICSE schools, and many travel across South Delhi to reach them. Older schools may have a counsellor and a special educator on staff but less experience with a shadow teacher in class, so we contact the school first and place one only with its agreement. At the time of writing, September 2026, CBSE's scheme lets eligible students with a specific learning disability drop some subjects and languages. Confirm with the school what applies to your child's year.

The commute and the languages.

GK has its own stop on the Magenta Line, with Nehru Place and Kailash Colony nearby on the Violet Line, so professionals living elsewhere in South Delhi can often come by metro. By road, the Outer Ring Road and the Chirag Delhi crossing can be slow at peak hours, and parking near the M Block market is tight. A shadow teacher going to a school in Vasant Kunj or Saket needs a route that works every morning. Where school and home are both in South Delhi, one person can often cover both.

Hindi, Punjabi and English are the everyday languages in most GK homes, and Bengali is common in neighbouring Chittaranjan Park. Grandparents may speak to the child mainly in Punjabi or Hindi while parents use English. The brief notes each of these, so the special educator's instructions match what the child hears from the adults around them.

Questions from Greater Kailash families

Can a special educator work in a GK home where grandparents look after my child during the day?+

Yes. The brief names the grandparents as part of the plan, and the special educator explains each routine to them as well as to you. Daily notes go to the parents, and grandparents can read them too, so everyone responds to the child in the same way.

Is a Bengali-speaking special educator available near CR Park and GK?+

Sometimes. English and Hindi are always the starting point, and other languages depend on who is available when you begin. We record Bengali in the brief, look for it, and tell you plainly whether the shortlist includes someone who speaks it.

Can a shadow teacher from GK travel to my child's school in Vasant Kunj?+

Yes, if the morning route works. The Magenta Line and the Outer Ring Road both connect the two, but peak-hour traffic varies. We check the route at the time your child's school starts before recommending anyone for a year-long role.
