Prompting and prompt fading
Help given so a child can get a skill right: a gesture, a model to copy, a spoken hint or a hand guiding the movement. Prompt fading means reducing that help step by step until the child does the skill alone.
Fading is planned from the start, so the child does not come to wait for the adult's help. A shadow teacher follows the prompt levels the analyst or special educator has set.
