In short
Special Minds introduces vetted shadow teachers to families in Kolkata. The shadow teacher works one-to-one with your child inside the school day, at the school's invitation, helping them follow the lesson and the routine and carrying the strategies from your therapists' plans into class. Candidates are verified, referenced and interviewed twice before you see the file. We coordinate with the school before day one and review the placement at one week, thirty and ninety days, with a replacement guarantee.
Families in Salt Lake, New Town, Ballygunge, Alipore, Behala and Tollygunge, and across the river in Howrah, with a child in an ICSE, CBSE, state board or international school that has agreed to a support person in class. Many homes are bilingual, Bengali or Hindi with English, and in many it is a grandparent at the school gate, so we brief the whole household.

Questions
Questions
How quickly can a shadow teacher start in Kolkata?+
Usually a few weeks, once the school has agreed. We say plainly if the pool near your child's school is thin at the time.
Bengali-speaking shadow teachers?+
Often, yes. Bengali is widely spoken among Kolkata practitioners, and English is always guaranteed. Tell us the home language early, Hindi or Urdu included.
Will an older ICSE school in Kolkata accept a shadow teacher?+
Policies differ by school, and some older schools have not had one before. We ask the principal's office directly rather than assume, and we are candid if a school's answer is no.
Is the shadow teacher a therapist?+
No. Therapists set the plan; the shadow teacher carries it into the classroom and records what she sees.
