Shadow teachers and special educators in Adajan.
Online remedial tutoring for families in Adajan, Pal and Rander on the west bank of the Tapi, with in-person shadow teachers and special educators arranged on request where we can staff them.
Adajan, Surat
Adajan sits on the far bank of the Tapi from Surat's old city, and has grown from older societies near Rander into apartment blocks, bungalow schemes and the newer towers of Pal and Palanpur. Many families have lived here for a generation, often in joint households, and parents cross the river to the textile markets, diamond units or offices. Online remedial tutoring with a vetted tutor is available now. In-person shadow teachers and special educators are arranged on request, where we can find and verify the right person nearby, and we say plainly whether we can before you commit. Qualifications are verified with the issuing institution, at least two references are spoken to and each candidate is interviewed twice. The school is contacted before a shadow teacher is placed, with reviews at one week, thirty days and ninety days, daily notes and a monthly written report.
Adajan and Pal have CBSE schools, Gujarat board schools in Gujarati and English medium and some ICSE schools, with newer schools opening as the west bank has filled with housing. Gujarati-medium schooling is still common in the older parts towards Rander, and some children move to an English-medium school later, which is a large change for a child who already finds reading hard. At the time of writing, October 2026, the Gujarat board gives SSC and HSC candidates with certified disabilities concessions such as extra time and a writer, with the school applying under the board's current notification, and CISCE gives compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour and a second-language exemption on a valid certificate. Confirm the current rules with the school.

The commute and the languages.
Adajan's link to the rest of Surat is the river. The bridges across the Tapi towards Athwa and the city centre carry heavy traffic at school and office hours, and a professional living on the other bank can lose a good part of the morning on them, more so when monsoon rain slows everything down. Inside Adajan, Pal and Rander distances are short, and the main roads are slow mainly at peak times. For an in-person arrangement we look first for someone living on the same side of the river. Online sessions suit families where no suitable person lives nearby, or where the child's day already ends late.
Gujarati is the language of daily life in most Adajan homes, and in older households towards Rander grandparents may speak little else. Some long-settled Rander families use Urdu at home, and Hindi is common across the area. Families who came to Surat from other states for work add Marathi, Marwari or another language. If the child learns in English but lives in Gujarati, say so in the brief, so the tutor plans the reading work with both languages in mind.

Questions from Adajan families
Is in-person help possible in Adajan, and how quickly?+
Sometimes. In Surat we arrange shadow teachers and special educators on request, so it depends on whether a suitable, verified professional lives close enough, ideally on the same side of the Tapi. We cannot promise a start date on the first call. Once a candidate has passed our checks and the school has agreed, we give you a realistic one, and if we cannot staff it, we say so plainly before you commit to anything.
Can a professional from Athwa or Piplod work with our child in Adajan?+
Some can, but crossing the river twice a day at peak time is where long arrangements tend to wear down. We ask any candidate living on the other bank to walk us through the route at the hour the child's day starts, and we prefer someone in Adajan, Pal or Rander where one can be found.
Our child is moving from a Gujarati-medium school to an English-medium one. Can a remedial tutor help?+
Yes. A remedial tutor can work online on reading and writing in English, and in Gujarati where the tutor reads and writes it well, so the child does not lose the language they learnt in first. The plan is written with the family, sessions are logged, and a monthly report shows what has moved. Tell us the new school's board in the brief.
