A family home in Thiruvananthapuram

Shadow teachers and special educators in Kazhakoottam.

Online remedial tutoring for families in Kazhakoottam and the neighbourhoods around Technopark, with shadow teachers and special educators arranged in person on request, where the right professional can be found and verified nearby.

Kazhakoottam, Thiruvananthapuram

Kazhakoottam, on the northern edge of Thiruvananthapuram, has changed quickly around Technopark, and the old junction town is now ringed by apartment towers, villa projects and rented flats. Many families here are young, with both parents working at the campus, and many have moved from elsewhere in Kerala or other states, with grandparents far away. Remedial tutoring is available online now, with a vetted tutor. For a shadow teacher or special educator in person, we look for the right professional near you, and we say plainly whether we can find and verify one before you commit. Whoever we introduce has had qualifications verified with the issuing institution, at least two references taken up and two interviews. We speak to the school before a shadow teacher is placed, then review at one week, thirty days and ninety days; you receive daily notes and a monthly written report.

Kazhakoottam and Sreekaryam have a growing number of CBSE schools, several opened as the IT campus grew, alongside Kerala state syllabus schools, with ICSE schools a drive away in the city. Families expecting another move for work often stay with CBSE. Newer schools may welcome inclusion while having little experience of an outside professional in class, so the role should be agreed in writing first. At the time of writing, October 2026, CBSE accepts concession requests only through its online CWSN portal, where the school enters them with its list of candidates, while a Kerala SSLC candidate with a certified disability may be allowed extra time or a writer on the school's application, under the current notification. Confirm the current rules with the school.

The commute and the languages.

The NH-66 bypass runs past Technopark, and the junctions around Kazhakoottam slow sharply when the campus fills and empties, at much the same hour as the school buses. The older road into the city, through Sreekaryam and Ulloor towards the Medical College, is often slower still. Most practitioners travel by two-wheeler or KSRTC bus, and someone coming from the south of the city meets the full length of that traffic twice a day, which is hard to sustain for a whole school year. For an in-person arrangement we look first for someone living in Kazhakoottam, Kulathoor, Sreekaryam or Kariavattom. Evening sessions online, once the traffic has eased, suit many families where both parents work at the park.

Malayalam and English carry most Kazhakoottam homes, and Technopark draws families from across India, so a class here may include children who speak Tamil, Hindi, Telugu or Kannada at home. A child who arrives from another state may meet written Malayalam for the first time, which is hard for any child and harder for one who already finds reading difficult. Put every language in the brief and tell us which script your child finds hardest, so we can look for a tutor who can help with it.

How a placement works

Questions from Kazhakoottam families

Is in-person help possible in Kazhakoottam, and how quickly?+

It may be, on request. We look for a shadow teacher or special educator living near you, verify their qualifications and references, interview them twice and, for work in school, speak to the school first. How long that takes depends on who is available nearby, so we give you an honest estimate rather than a date, and suggest starting online if the search looks slow. Online remedial tutoring can usually begin within two to three weeks of the brief.

Our child is moving here from a school in another state. Will exam concessions carry over?+

Not automatically. If your child stays on CBSE, the new school still enters any concession request on CBSE's portal for the exam year. If your child moves to the Kerala state syllabus, that board's own rules and evidence apply. Ask the new school what it needs before the move. Special Minds does not assess or certify; a hospital or psychologist does.

We both finish work late. Can sessions fit around our hours?+

Online sessions can be set for early evening, once traffic on the bypass has eased, and both parents receive the notes and the monthly written report. Younger children often manage better earlier in the day, so tell us your child's age and routine, and we will say honestly what is workable, including whether a grandparent or carer could sit in.
