Chapter 1
What a child with dysgraphia usually needs
Letter formation, spacing and pace taught explicitly and practised little and often
Typing and other alternatives to handwriting, introduced as the school permits
Written expression taught in stages: ideas, then order, then sentences
Exam arrangements such as a scribe or extra time, discussed with the school early
Chapter 2
How a shadow teacher or special educator helps
A remedial tutor or special educator for a child with dysgraphia separates the two jobs that writing asks for: forming the letters, and turning thoughts into sentences. They teach handwriting explicitly, carry the occupational therapist's grip, posture and fine-motor exercises into the day, build typing where the school allows it, and teach planning so that the child's ideas reach the page. Where a scribe is part of the plan, they help the child practise dictating answers clearly.
Chapter 3 · Where our role ends
Dysgraphia is identified by a clinical psychologist as part of a learning disability assessment, and an occupational therapist assesses the motor side of handwriting. Our professionals do not assess or prescribe. They carry the therapist's exercises and the psychologist's recommendations into lessons.
Chapter 4
Your child's team, working as one
With your consent, we build the child-support profile with the school and with any therapist, psychologist or paediatrician already involved, so the professional arrives knowing the plan rather than guessing at it. Monthly reports go to you, and to them if you wish.

Not sure what your child needs yet?
Many families come to us before there is a diagnosis. Tell us what the school has said, and we will say plainly whether we can help, or whether a clinician should come first.
