Twice-exceptionality support

Vetted shadow teachers, special educators and tutors for children with twice-exceptionality: high ability alongside a learning disability, ADHD or autism, at school and at home, working to the plans your child's clinicians set.

Chapter 1

What a child with twice-exceptionality usually needs

  1. Real challenge in the child's areas of strength, not only support in the weak ones

  2. Proper teaching for the learning disability, ADHD or autism that sits alongside the ability

  3. Adults who understand why a very able child can struggle with basic tasks

  4. Help with the frustration, boredom and perfectionism that often come with it

Chapter 2

How a shadow teacher or special educator helps

A special educator or remedial tutor for a twice-exceptional child works on two fronts at once. They teach around the learning disability, ADHD or autism with structured methods and practical strategies, and they keep the child stretched in the subjects where they are ahead, so that support does not turn into boredom. They help the family and the school see the whole child: very able, and genuinely struggling. A shadow teacher, where needed, helps with organisation and the social side of the day.

Chapter 3 · Where our role ends

Twice-exceptional is a description, not a diagnosis. The learning disability, ADHD or autism is identified by a clinical psychologist, developmental paediatrician or psychiatrist, often in the same assessment that shows the high ability. Our professionals work to that report; they never assess ability or diagnose.

Chapter 4

Your child's team, working as one

With your consent, we build the child-support profile with the school and with any therapist, psychologist or paediatrician already involved, so the professional arrives knowing the plan rather than guessing at it. Monthly reports go to you, and to them if you wish.

Not sure what your child needs yet?

Many families come to us before there is a diagnosis. Tell us what the school has said, and we will say plainly whether we can help, or whether a clinician should come first.
